How to Measure
Proportion and proper measuring are very important when selecting your bedding components. Although anything can be customized, there are standard “drops” for coverlets and bedskirts. The drop is the length of fabric that hangs over the edge of the bed. For bedskirts, measure the distance between the top of the box spring and the floor; standard drops are 14” and 18”. (Note: if you want your bedskirt to “pool” a bit on the floor, add an extra inch.) Coverlet drops are the measured distance between the top of the bed and how far over the side you wish the coverlet to reach. (Note: make sure you drop below the top of the box spring.) Standard drops for fitted coverlets are 15” and 19”. Bed sizes are measured by the length and width of the decking, the horizontal surface on the top of the bed. Mystic Valley Traders’ Super Queen and Super King-sized duvets have longer drops to accommodate pillow top mattresses.
